I am again writing to express out entire school’s gratitude for the fantastic motivational experience that your team treated us to on April 24, 2009.  A group of over 500 junior high school students on a Friday afternoon is one of the toughest audience that any performer could ever face.  Your people pulled it off in fine style, due in large measure to the fact that it didn’t seem like they were performing.  As I may have mentioned in an earlier letter of recommendation to you, we got the feeling that we were engaged in a private, intimate conversation.  It felt real, authentic, and sincere.  Our students responded extremely well to this.

The recurrent themes that streamed through the hour were timely and appropriate for young adolescent students.  It spoke directly to the critical issues that face them as individuals and to us as a society.  Even cynical or immature in the group - and there will always be some of these - couldn’t be touched by the message and the methods that were delivered.  In short, they were tuned in.

As in previous years, your entire staff - the team leaders and performers - were fantastic.  They were friendly and flexible.  You have clearly selected the right people for the job.

As indicated in my recent fax to you, we would love to have Absolute back to our school again next year.  Friday, April 23, 2010 would be our first choice of date.  If this does not work with your current schedule, we would look at some alternate dates.  In any event, it will be an important date on our educational calendar.  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

In April of 2009 our school, Westisle Composite High, had the opportunity to host Absolute. A very energetic, high powered, enthusiastic group of young individuals entered our school theater and delivered an amazing presentation. The core of the presentation dealt with very pertinent information to young adolescents living in today’s society. Self-esteem, decision making, and caring for yourself and others were among the key points presented. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. Their method of presenting is also a major part of their success. Along with their high energy presentation, they incorporated music that appears to resemble a rock concert; but also gets their message across very effectively.

I would highly recommend this group to present to any high school. Their message is interactive, exciting, energetic and informative. It is money well spent to get this group in to speak to our youth on topics that pertain to their lives.

Thank you so much for the dynamic and engaging presentation you and your group brought to Pugwash District High School on April 23, 2009.  The themes and issues discussed in your Think Day presentation were highly relevant and really hit home for a lot of our students.  Our students were captivated by the personal stories and enjoyed the interaction.  The presenters were very genuine and sincere, giving their messages a deeper impact.  The addition of the band was incredible and really added energy to the afternoon.  The students were thrilled to see a live band performing at their small, rural school.  (I still see “Ocean Buried” t-shirts on a daily basis!)  This was the kind of presentation that engaged even the most hard-to-reach kids.

Our kids weren’t the only ones impressed.  “Think Day” was all the buzz in the staff room after the presentation as teachers and staff discussed the positive impression you and your group made on our students.  It was like the messages you were sending and the personal anecdotes you were sharing were just what some of our kids needed to hear.  You delivered a strong message to our kids in a way that was accessible to them and not “preachy”.

It is now nearing the end of our school year and students are still talking about Think Day and The Ocean Buried.  This is one experience that has made a positive impression on many students and will be talked about for months to come.  We wholeheartedly recommend your group to other schools and we most certainly would love to invite you back to our school.

I would like to extend the thanks and appreciation of our students and staff to the team from Absolute Leadership Development who came to Banbury Heights School to facilitate our “Think Day”.

Our students from grade four to grade eight were engaged in the presentation from beginning to end.  The mix of music, video and personal presentations provided meaningful and relevant information that inspired students to share, reflect and write.  I have included some student writing samples to provide feedback in the voices of the students themselves.  Follow up from staff and parents indicated that the messages of value of self and others, honesty and purpose highlighted in the presentation were shared by students with many of their families.  As one parent observed, although the topics were significant, even the youngest students felt “uplifted and empowered” to have a positive impact on their own lives and of those around them.

As we progress through the finalization of our school plan for improvement, we will look forward to having a team from Absolute return to present next year’s focus on love, perseverance and respect as a post of our character education and bullying prevention activities.  Please find enclosed payment for the supplementary workshops and a donation from the students of our school to further support your work.

 The essence of music comes from the dew dripping off of a rainbow, wetting the unicorn’s hooves, deep within the clarity of the sun. It blinds every heart to pursue the truth of new beginnings. Now let me ask you a question…did that make any sense to you? It makes life changing sense…hope your life is changed even before reading this blog!!

   Music is an incredible way to communicate a message. We are so pumped to be given the chance to do that through Absolute. Elle started with that desire, to use music as a way to reach out. With our vocalist, Danielle, Guitarists, Graham and Brendan, Bassist, Justin, and Drummer, Darryl, each have a story to tell through the music they play. With the recent release of their debut album entitled “Light of You”.  The band has been working hard to pull everything together, so they could hit the road for the four month tour with absolute.

    The group first started with Danielle and Graham about 2 years ago. We began writing, and creating our sound. From start to finish, the album took around one year to complete. It was an incredible experience. We recorded in a studio called the Night Deposit in Calgary Alberta. It was there that our pop, rock sound was solidified, and we were all very excited about how the album turned out.

   Now that it’s released we’re working hard on the road! Our tour began with Absolute at the beginning of February, and my have we been having a crazy time! We arrived in Hamilton with a bang! Everyone on the team came down with some weird sickness. Darryl is originally from South Africa, and he was definitely a frozen little guy, and he got incredibly sick. Honestly one night he started throwing up, and it sounded like he was hacking out a small animal.

 Graham dropped something heavy on his foot, and broke his toe. Danielle came down with a case of some kind of skin reaction to bugs or some environmental toxin!! Justin was deathly ill making noises that would unnerve anybody. It was a hilarious couple weeks. Honestly though going into the schools and seeing how the students react to our music, and our message makes all our sick (not the cool “sick”) experiences all worth it. Everything that comes with touring is all worth it when you see things like emails telling us how what we do changed their lives. Those emails and those conversations would cause anyone to be moved with passion to move forward with their dreams.

  We are so excited for the future of where we will go with this. Every song on our album has a purpose to affect people in positive ways. To make them think, to give perspective, to give hope. We love what we do, and we love that we have an opportunity to do what we love with Absolute.

We were able to bring Absolute into our school in March 2009.  I had been trying to raise money to bring them in since my SRC and I had seen them in Lloydminster at the National SRC conference.  I was delighted to learn that they would take a donation.  So, through SRC fundraising and backing from our local Credit Union, we were successful in bringing them in.

The presentation was fantastic.  It was showy enough to capture the interest of our students and, at the same time, was very educational.  Our students developed an entirely new understanding about what it means to be poor and stateless.  We have taught these concepts in our classes, but the pictures and stories from actual situations made these concepts real in the minds of our kids.

Some of our students were so captivated that we now have a group of teachers and students raising money to go on a Hero Holiday and build a school.

Bringing Absolute into your school or organization is a very worth-while endeavor, regardless of whether your students are spurred into action.  The knowledge that society can help people less fortunate and make a real difference in invaluable.  Having Absolute in our school made our community a better place just as Absolute’s work makes the world a better place.

I am writing to provide a reference for the “Multi-Media Show” presented at Mackenzie and Keys Schools on February 11th, 2009. This show was sponsored by the Renfrew Country District Health Unit.

This was one of the finest “character education” productions that I have had the pleasure of witnessing in my experience as a school administrator. Our students were engaged throughout the hour-long program and continued to talk about the videos, music and topics presented throughout the day. Students were inspired by the altrustic messages presented and reflected on their own honesty and self advocacy as recommended in the presentation.

Powerful.  One word encompasses the tone and message of ABSOLUTE’s presentation.  The message of self-esteem and humanitarianism was powerfully combined.  The presentation reached the students, and I know this because of the students’ reaction.  Some students were hit by the speaker’s personal stories and they were able to see themselves in the speakers.  Others were psyched up to become a part of something bigger in the volunteerism world.  I had students and parents contact me about the Holiday Hero program.  Other students hugged me, thanked me, and then went home and told their parents about the experience.  I received emails from parents thanking the school for bringing such an uplifting and prevalent message to the students.

Additionally, I would like to also mention the professionalism and good character of the presenters and the contact person.  I was extremely well informed on the groups travel plans and needs.  We had a situation with the weather and the group kept me updated on their plans and was willing to make changes to the time of the presentation because of the weather.  We billeted the group, and they were beyond polite and considerate in our homes.  The book and other material we were left with is also very good and we look forward to integrating it into the school’s program and/or various classrooms.  Finally, they were efficient and able to trouble shoot when equipment and electric was not quite working correctly.  Truly I cannot say enough about the presentation and the presenters.  My only regret is that we did not get to partake in their global presentation.  We hope to be able to work with the group again.

There are very few times in my life that I can say that a presentation moved me so much.  Absolute did just that!  It brought the staff and students closer together, making us all realize that we can make a difference no matter who we are.

I strongly encourage all principals to invite Absolute into the schools and see what potential lies beneath each and everyone of our students.  They are the future and they can make a difference!  Sometimes they just need a little push to get them started.  Absolute Leadership may just do that!

Yesterday we at Tollgate experienced the ThinkFast presentation for the very first time.  I was absolutely amazed by how efficient and organized J.P and Meagan’s team was.  The level of courtesy and professionalism was astounding.  It could only be surpassed by the friendliness of the team members.  Staff and students alike commented on the approachability of the team members.

The presentation itself was incredible!  All 400 of our students were engaged for the full hour.  It was the perfect mix of rock, videos and speakers.  Many of us were touched by the personal stories that were told; students were able to relate and empathize.  The school seems to be abuzz with a new vibe, Absolute has made it cool to care at Tollgate!

We intend to take the messages learned and do what we can to make change happen.  We now know that we have the power to help!

I’d also like to thank the team for the extra time that they spent with a group of our students after the show.  The team’s visit to the classroom has been a definite highlight for them.

Ecole Pine Grove Middle School is a grade 6-8 Middle School in rural Edson, Alberta.  I would like to say how much our school values the program Absolute delivers each year.  It has been so popular with students that we invited the grade nines to join us for the presentation again this year.  It was easier to invite all of the grade nine students than to have them show up one by one to ask if they could just sit at the back and watch.

The message that kids get from your program is positive and enable students to see that there is more to the world than just themselves.  It fits into our anti-bullying campaign and is a nice wind up for our year.  I truly hope that this program is able to continue in the future.

“A lot of people were moved by the presentation which led to many discussions. Many said how it felt good to have similar situations in which they could relate to their own personal experiences, that they felt comfort in knowing they were not alone. Others felt that it was very motivational in the sense that you saw what these people were going through and how hard it was for them; it motivated some to perhaps help others out more, stand up for them, and even reach out to them. Some people even felt that, perhaps, if they were in the shoes of these people it would encourage them to be strong, there is help, and that things do get better. I never really heard anyone say that they didn’t like the presentation, even if it did bring up painful memories. Many enjoyed that it was very serious and straight-forward, not just another “cheesy” presentation.” B.

“The presentation for Absolute yesterday was very moving to me, and I really think it was moving to several other students too…I have always been the type who has wanted to go to a country that has been poverty stricken and make a difference. With the presentation, I now have the information to do that, and I plan to go on the Mexico trip n August, 2008. The emotion that was shown for Hero Holiday encouraged me that I can do it, and am going to.

“I also enjoyed the stats they had shown; some were extremely higher than I though they would be, such as the suicidal thoughts; it was something like every 1 in 10. I believe with known facts such as these, people can become stronger and work together as a group, and build a healthy, supporting community, and celebrate everything we should be thankful for, the key one being life. I also have to add “The Someone” band was very good and they are using their talent to make a difference. Overall, it was a very inspiring, do something with your life, type of presentation.” S. H.

“The presentation’s viewpoints brought a deeper understanding or appreciation to the audience by telling their own story. It was issues that kids today have and I felt that you could easily relate. I know it made people feel not so alone and that it wasn’t just them that was or is going through a tough time. The statistics that were shown really made me realize that drugs and alcohol, bullying and eating disorders among teens is high and that something needs to be done about it. The story about Ryan made me realize not to take life for granted and to always stand up for yourself and others. I thought it was an excellent presentation and that they should do it more often.” S. “When talking to my friends some people decided that they liked the idea that the band sang such meaningful lyrics and that they could have possibly sung more songs. Others enjoyed that fact that the environment we were in wasn’t the usual lecture style and the way they set up helped to hold our attention much better because they had little bits of fun pieces in the presentation. Some enjoyed the fact that the people who spoke to us had actually been through a hardship in their lives and had enough strength to get over it and teach others. That fact helps to communicate with teens instead of us feeling that we are being lectured by people who only help youths in trouble. They are the ones who experienced it and therefore we don’t think that they have no right to be up there lecturing us.” C. L.

“A lot of viewpoints expressed in the presentation made it a lot easier to sit through without having my mind drift away to something else. If the whole hour was based on a single topic (as were some past school presentations) I would have felt bored and as though I was being told something I already knew. Therefore it was easy to not only pay attention but to keep interested as well. Also, having some of the presenters share their actual life experience gave the audience a deeper connection and a better understanding of the true effects of drugs, alcohol, and physical abuse. If they made up scenarios and simply just acted them out, I think the audience would have thought it was “cheesy” and turned their attention to an unrelated topic.” E. F.

“The show that you had at Portage Collegiate Institute was very well done. The fact that you had everyday people who went to the levels that ordinary people go to was a nice change from either people having not done anything, to people who went to the extremes. Statman was a very good way to bring in the serious points however… Overall, the performance was awesome, and I personally plan on looking into the ways that I can help the project move along. Absolute Leadership Development Inc. has performed a live show at this school and by all accounts, it was a huge success.  This particular show featured the band Hundredfold and spoke to students about members of the group who had dealt with obstacles such as drug addiction, depression, suicide, eating disorders and social justice.  The performance was very well received by the students, evidenced by their reaction and by the number who interacted with the group after the performance had finished.

SMITHVILLE — Christal Earle wants youth to know they can make a difference.

The co-founder of Absolute Leadership Development, a Hamilton-based charity that encourages hundreds of students to engage in humanitarian relief work, says youth need to understand that they can follow their “dream of what (they) want to be and do”. Earle recently visited South Lincoln High School in Smithville to spread her message during an assembly presented by the Youth for Change.

“You and I can make a difference,” Earle told the students and special guests from organizations such as Grimsby Life Centre and International Justice Mission.

After a tumultuous time during her youth growing up in Saskatchewan, Earle said one day she decided she wanted “something more”. Looking around the world today and some of the global issues such as aids orphans and children dieing from starvation, Earle said her and her husband Vaden “decided we wanted to do something about it”.

From there, Hero Holiday was born. The program provides opportunities for high school students to participate in a humanitarian relief project by bringing practical assistance to those living in extreme poverty. Activities include everything from building homes to distributing supplies to working with children at risk. Last year they even built a school.

“People like you and me are going to Third World countries and making a difference,” said Earle.

The stories, she admits, are touching and their outlook on life changes as they see first-hand what people living in other parts of the world go through.

In 2005, the first year of Hero Holiday, about 180 students went to work with Haitian refugees in the Dominican Republic. She said the refugees lived in a garbage dump, a site that “blows your mind”. She warned the students to ensure they wore their shoes while spending the two hours with their refugees there, so they would remain safe while walking through the dump. When the time was over, she noticed one student wasn’t wearing their shoes. She looked around and discovered none of the students had their shoes anymore.

“Every one of the students that day gave their own shoes off their feet to the refugees living there,” she said. “They made a difference.”

Earle challenged students to get involved and “make a difference”. She said programs like Hero Holiday are an “invaluable opportunity” to show how lives can change and provide “brand new beginnings” for those in impoverished countries.

Opportunities exist this summer, she said, with Hero Holiday. Upcoming trips include the Dominican and Mexico. Information on the organization can be found at http://heroholiday.absolute.org.

“You will never regret it,” she said of the experiences.

For this advertising campaign we wanted to try a different approach- addressing a nice cover page to the secretary (a.k.a “most influential person in the school”) to get them to sweeten up to us and pass on the info to the proper contact. If nothing else, hopefully they get a bit of a chuckle out of it. We thought we would take this route so that the school will realize that it is a legitimate fax before tossing it in the trash.

We find that in sending faxes and making phone calls to schools that is really easy to get mistaken for telemarketers or solicitors and to be treated coldly because of that. We are now trying to get across to schools that it is actually the opposite: as a non-profit we are financially giving a lot more to schools than we are receiving (see pricing here) . Like most educators, we do what we do because we care about students and believe in them - enough so that we a willing to send the odd “junk” fax to a school to be able to reach more of them with a message of hope.

On Tuesday, May 22 students in grades 7 and 8 from Virden Junior High as well as Elkhorn and Oak Lake schools had the chance to watch a multimedia presentation by the Absolute Leadership Development. I am pleased to be able to offer a letter of support, praise and endorsement for the Absolute Leadership Development school assembly presentation.

As a small school, our funds for bringing in professional presentations for our students are limited. For this reason, we must be very prudent when it comes to booking performers, speakers and other assembly professionals. We hope that all of our bookings will show a maximum of value for the money we pay.

I can state categorically that the Absolute Leadership presentation was ‘absolutely’ the best presentation of its kind that we have ever had at our school. (more…)

I would like to pass along thanks to Absolute for providing seven energetic and thought-provoking shows to seven different Saskatoon high schools. I have received several positive comments from principals indicating that student reaction was very positive.

I would also like to thank the two teams who ‘did’ the shows in Saskatoon. They were great to deal with, very accommodating, and obviously love what they do.

I would certainly recommend Absolute to other school groups or police agencies if required.

I just wanted to write you to let you know how impressed our staff and students were with the muli media presentation that your people did for us on April 27, 2007. The title of the show, “Wake Up!” said it all. From the moment that the presentation began until it ended an hour later, our students were ‘riveted’! Junior high school students are a tough audience at the best of times. Your performers had our 500 students soaking up everything that they said and did.

We have had a number of similar presentations at D. S. MacKenzie over the past several years. Most of them have been very good. The “Wake Up!” presentation, however, was electric! The transition between one act to another was smooth but not slick. We had the strong feeling that we were in a conversation. It was comfortable and relaxed. Our students were immediately at ease.

The theme of the presentation was particularly appropriate, and resonated extremely with our young students. Asking young people to wake up to the incredible power they have collectively to change the world for the better is like rock music to their ears.

I would also like to mention that I greatly appreciated the friendliness and flexibility of the crew and performers. It was like having our own staff in the building. We would have them back again in a minute.

As I indicated on my recent fax to you, I would ask that you contact me in late August 2007 to make the arrangements for Absolute to return to our school in the Spring of 2008. It will be a much anticipated event.

To Whom It May Concern,

On Wednesday, April 18th, Christ the King students were treated to a special multi-media presentation performed by Absolute, a group that travels all over Canada to speak to teens about critical issues such as taking drugs, alcohol, pre-marital sex, abortion (editor’s note: we actually don’t speak about abortion, see our faq’s as to why), and bullying. This group was brought in to kick-off our Catholic Education Week this year where the theme centers on being created in the image of God. Absolute is a group that speaks to teens about the critical issues that matter to them most and does it on a level they understand and can relate to. The message is exactly the same as our theme this year - one that emphasizes the uniqueness and dignity of each person.

As the group began their presentation, the students listened closely as various members of the group spoke from personal experience on several major issues and came to understand the message being delivered…you have a life to live and that every part of what makes you unique is for a reason…a purpose! You can get through anything as long as you know how special you are and believe you can make a difference by knowing this in your heart. Numerous students were drawn to tears as story after story directly related to what they have been going through in their own life.

But the event was not just about connection through story telling, but also by connection through music as a touring band called Beauti from Trail, B.C. performed three of their songs during the presentation. The band totally ‘rocked the house’ and the students not only enjoyed the music but also appreciated the sincerity of the lyrics in their songs. In addition to the band, the group utilized videos that depicted the different kinds of wonderful opportunities that the students have to make a difference (as youth) in our world such as Hero Holiday which is an opportunity to join other youth in building new houses and buildings in poorer countries like the Dominican Republic and Mexico. World Vision sponsoring was also offered to kinds along with a video clip that emphasized that ability of the ‘disabled’ to overcome odds and make a difference.

The event was truly remarkable! Students and teachers were discussing the issues and what they experienced from the show long after they returned to their classrooms. As a teacher, I believe I have witnessed one of the most significant events in our school’s early history, one that has helped us further the process of growing a warm, compassionate, caring, and involved Catholic community here in Georgetown. Absolute really lived up to their reputation as they did an absolutely fantastic job!! I highly recommend Absolute in every respect.

Absolute Motivational Experience came to visit our school in February 2007.  Not only were they energetic and willing to take the time to meet and greet the entire student body before the show, they were also outstanding while performing.  The band “The Reception” was great.  The lyrics of their songs are motivational, and inspiring, and the music uplifting and rocking.  The great CD’s and t-shirts were a big hit with the students.  However, the entertainment did not end there.  Along with the band the Absolute Motivational Experience Team had intermission presentations.

During the presentation the team would tell personal stories so that students could relate to them with more ease.  Not only did these stories open the floor for great discussion but a new sense of trust from the students to see that you can make it through everyday struggles.  The stats section with “Stat Man” was extremely humorous and offered great information on STI’s, bullying and sexual awareness.  This type of show not only informs students that they are not alone on these matters.  It also allows them to see that they don’t have to be part of the statistics because there is always someone out there willing to help them through their troubled times.  The team did a great job at motivating students to better themselves and to get involved in leadership activities in their school, community and to partake in the global community service which the group runs every summer.

Students left the presentation excited and ready to help those in need.  They were driven to start programs at the school to make sure bullying and a safe community continue to exist in our own school community.  Some students even joined the ranks of Absolute Motivational Experience to travel with them over the summer to help out a global community in need.  The people were great, the message was awesome, and the lasting feeling of excitement that the student body had is a true testimony of the team’s hard work and dedication.  Great Work Absolute!

Stewarttown Middle School is a school of approximately 480 students in grades 6, 7 and 8. On January 26th, our entire student body, staff and several parents from our School Council were treated to the one hour Absolute Experience. Fifteen energetic and talented young adults presented strong messages about the powerful impact of making life choices with respect to drugs and alcohol, bullying and sexuality. The Messages were conveyed through a multi-media presentation including a live band, dancers, photo slide show and personal testimonials from the performers regarding difficult life choices they had personally experienced. The show included an interactive segment in which a teacher and two students became performers as well.

Although these messages are a part of the Ontario Curriculum through Choices Into Action, and we have been presenting these messages in various ways for several years, I feel the impact of the Absolute message was perhaps the most effective format yet, possibly because our students can identify so well with the performers who are not too far removed from their own age.

The Absolute crew was here on time, despite some very nasty and threatening weather. They came with an entire moving van full of multi-media equipment, lights , etc. and they set up and dismantled everything without disturbing the operation of the school. Several performers engaged in interactions with students during the recess break as well.

I recommend the Absolute experience to middle and high schools without hesitation.

Absolute Productions brought a motivating, entertaining, thought provoking, assembly presentation to KLDCS that touched our students and staff. It inspired students to speak out about bullying experiences, investigate the, “hero holiday” possibilities, and commit to sponsoring a child … to think about the opportunities we all have to make a difference. One teacher went immediately to the net about the Dominican; students waited to talk to her after school to get more information, two students came to my office to talk about their experiences with bullies; parents called to ask about sponsoring children after their daughters expressed the desire to make the commitment …

This was a very effective presentation. Students returned in the evening to enjoy an impromptu concert. They were excited about this opportunity and it was a great experience.

Wow what a great performance and presentation!  It is not easy to perform in a school of 1,400 students.  The pupils in attendance were masterfully engaged as the show progressed.  The variety of entertainment and real life stories, I am sure assisted individuals in the audience to reinforce the positive aspects of their lives or change existing ineffective patterns of thought or behaviour.  You touched us in so many profound ways.  Students were not being preached to but rather educated in an interactive format, leaving all in a state of thought and the immediate need to share our perceptions after the performance.  The set-up and take down of equipment was completed with speed and care, I thank you for this.  I will as others have done recommend you to similar organizations.

One phone call I made after the show was to a mother of a student who missed your presentation.  After I had shared my thoughts about your show to her, she mentioned how disillusioned she was about her son choosing not to attend.  “This is exactly ehat he(us) needed today.  What can I do?”  I gave her the web address and chatted for a while.  I hope this makes sense to you.  As was mentioned, we cannot feel helpless when some of the needy are not attended to in some way, rather be thankful for those that were assisted and have faith that those less fortunate will receive strength to establish meaningful goals, connect with an advocate along the way, and carry on.

We at Ballenas were most fortunate to have ABSOLUTE perform for our entire school (1,000 students) in each of the past two years. The combination of pulsating music, powerful personal testimonies and thought provoking statistics of a world in need, combine for an outstanding, memory-making presentation. Two students from Ballenas accepted the challenge to work towards the eradication of world poverty as Holiday Heroes in 2005 … this year 23 students and adults from Ballenas will be Holiday Heroes!

This concert, held in mid-April was truly the highlight of our school year. The ABSOLUTE staff through their skillfully choreographed presentation, challenged our students to make sound, value-based decisions on several contemporary and relevant teen issues such as self-esteem, bullying, substance use/abuse and teen attitude towards sex and STD’s. Our students were fully engaged for the entire concert and a couple of lucky ones had the opportunity to participate in a most humorous dance routine. AT the concert’s end, students flocked to the information table to speak with ABSOLUTE staff about becoming Holiday Heroes for 2007. I have, subsequently been engulfed by students coming to my office asking for application forms for Hero Holiday 2007 - so far eighteen students (and counting) are planning on spending part of their July, 2007 in the Dominican Republic! Are we excited???

In conclusion, I cannot recommend ABSOLUTE highly enough. Sincerest congratulations and appreciation for a job WELL DONE!

Thank you for the opportunity to offer Absolute to our school population once again this year. AS with last year’s presentation, the youth had very positive energy and feedback about the impact of the presentation on them. Certainly, the ideas and themes presented left youth with a lot to consider and talk about in regards to decisions that they will make in their every day lives. The messages delivered by Absolute are in keeping with the messages youth hear from the Teen Health Center in classroom presentations and through Peer Health Education.

We really appreciated the organization, preparedness and tightness of the crew in regards to set up and presentation. Quite frankly, they required very little assistance from us to set up and dismantle the stage and the show went off without a hitch. Ryan, Michelle and the whole crew are courteous, friendly and outgoing and immediately connected with youth and staff alike. The multi-media presentation was fast-paced and exciting and the hour flew by. The youth were engaged the whole presentation which is an accomplishment with 1000+ youth all together at once!

This year, we have put particular emphasis on understanding and addressing social justice issues. Certainly, the work that Absolute does with Hero Holiday as well as promoting youth to take action on social justice issues, particularly child poverty, had a huge impact on the youth and amplified this message within the school. From what I am hearing, many youth are interested in doing more about child poverty through World Vision and in other ways.

Thank you for offering this worthwhile presentation and recognizing the importance of opening discussions with youth about the things that are typically not talked about in school. We look forward to working with you again and wish you the best of luck as you continue to offer workshops throughout the country.

I am writing this letter to thank you for your Absolute presentation. The students rated your presentation very highly. They thought the participants were good speakers. Bringing in a celebrity like Miss Canada was well received and appreciated by all the student body and members of the staff.

The students felt that the stories told not only had an impact on them but they were also believable. They felt that they really affected everyone whether they had problems or not. The presentation related totally to the audience and was very teen oriented. The variety of methods used to get the message across did not go unnoticed by our students. Their comment was: It was great to have the music, the screen and the speakers. Humor helped keep the mood light but retained the impact. Statman took pride in our school and even wore our school sports uniform. Including two members of our school population in the presentation had a good effect on the students.

Lastly, many students commented about the fact that even after the presentation they would be able to contact someone if they had problems. This ever-lasting information was important to the students.

The students did have one complaint. They wish that they had been informed about the merchandise that would be for sale following the presentation. Many of them were unable to purchase anything because they had no money with them.

Students and teachers commented that your presentation would be a hard act to follow.

It is with high regard and great pleasure to recommend the group of young individuals who make up the team ‘ABSOLUTE’. Absolute has performed for the past two years at Dunbarton High School and we are eager to bring them back for round three. In my 18 years of experience in the educational system I have never before witnessed a school assembly such as the performance of Absolute. Every moment of the performance was filled with motivation, entertainment and relevant lessons directed at the students. Absolute meets teens were they are at and they do so in a superb way.

Their performance is captivating and intriguing, truly causing the audience to experience, think and feel. To be able to capture and influence young people with smart values, high morals and a hope for the future is nearly impossible in today’s society; Absolute not only delivers in this department but does so in a way that truly inspires and motivates the students.

This year’s presentation was very informative and interesting. I think that to make people want to listen you have to make it enjoyable and especially right now with what has been going on in our town we really needed encouragement on positive choices, which was just what you guys did.

The majority of our school loves rock music so that was awesome. You guys might not think we paid attention or had fun but we did it was just really early in the morning. I asked a few classes how they liked the presentation and they really enjoyed it especially the younger years who hadn’t seen the mullet dance. The older students were as enthusiastic about the presentation and they remembered a lot of the presentation like the mullet dance and Statgirl.

This assembly, similar to the previous ones, was great. It focused on how students can make positive life choices that will affect themselves, the community and the world. We were fortunate enough to have young people from Absolute Motivational Experience make two presentations at our school on November 15, 2005. We have had many school assemblies during my four years at I.E. Weldon, but I can safely say that Absolute’s was by far the most effective. Absolute came and performed at our school in 2004. They gave such an amazing show that, by student request, we had to have them back again.

On November 9th, 2005, Absolute arrived at Lockview with smiles on their faces, ready to give us a good time. They were quick to set up and needed barely any help at all. Students were on the edge of their seats for the whole hour. The performance included many videos, personal stories, a live popular band and a lot of student participation.

As well as being available after the show, Absolute gives students the opportunity to sign up for their program Hero Holiday, support a child through World Vision, as well as visiting their online chat to discuss any problems they may encounter.

Students are already asking if Absolute will be back again. We would definitely book them again. We also recommend them to any school looking for an amazing performance that will stay with students forever.

Thank you for your presentation at Wakaw School today. I can think of no higher praise from high school students than staying after the bell rings. One of my students reported to me that she felt that you got your message across. The message she received is: “If you want to try to stop doing something, you look deep inside and realize that you can do it. You don’t know what you can do until you try. You should care what other people think because you can’t please other people. you are out to please yourself.”

Other students said, “It was awesome, loud and had a good message.” I was impressed that the students heard the message. (Not that there was a lack of volume!)

Thank you so much for contacting me at Langenburg High School to consider hosting an “Absolute” performance there. It was serendipitous for sure. Every student and teacher I spoke with raved about the performance.  The students were impressed with the format, the entertainment and stories and how they were all choreographed. We are making plans to budget for such a performance in next-years SRC and we will be certain to spread the world throughout our school division and at the Provincial student Leadership Conference. After seeing your show, I absolutely insisted that my school have the chance to see what I had experienced. During my four years at Rothesay High School, I have never seen a school enjoy an assembly as much. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful presentation yesterday. The students, from Grades Seven to Twelve were fully engaged in the presentation. The students enjoyed the humorous, fast-paced nature of the show and the variety of the presentation styles. You delivered a very positive message about self-esteem, acceptance and hope without talking down to the students or making them feel as though they were being lectured to by adults. If anything, the presentation could have been longer because of the high enjoyment level of the students.

I was also very impressed by the Absolute team members. As Absolute was setting up, several students wandered into the gym. Despite their numerous set-up tasks, Absolute members took the time to talk with the students and make them feel very welcome. Similarly, after the show, the Absolute team and the band, Rides Again, spoke with students, took lots of photos and were extremely friendly and approachable. Several of our students, who are usually the first ones out the door, were the last ones to leave at this assembly. The Absolute member and Rides Again band spoke to the students at their level and really listened to them. Several members spoke one on one to a number of students which, as a teacher, is wonderful to see as it is very important for teens to make personal connections with adults in a positive manner. Not only did Absolute put on a fantastic show, but spent the extra time to show the students that Absolute really cared by spending that extra personal time before and after the show.

Elliot Lake Secondary School had the group ABSOLUTE made a presentation in our gym on Monday, November 22nd at 8:45 a.m. The group was energetic, and certainly caught the students’ attention.

The feedback from students indicates the messages on alcohol, sex, drugs and bullying were received. These topics are a focus this semester in the school’s TAP program.

We have recently had the pleasure of having the group of Absolute perform at our school. The presentation was highly charged, enthusiastic and teen focused. The dynamism of this group drew an immediate reaction from our students. The variety in the music, stories and presentation kept heir attention and challenged them. The key element was the fact that these performers shared personal stories and our students could easily relate to them. As a result, they know that when faced with decisions in life, they are not alone. Others have had to make similar decisions and it is good to have a strong system of values upon which you can make your decisions.

Many of our students returned i the evening for a second show because they found it not only entertaining but challenging and personal. In one short hour, this group established a rapport with our students. Consequently, our students were able to relate, open their minds and their hearts to the words of wisdom that were spoken.

Absolute offers an excellent program to young people who are faced with the daily task of making wise choices. It puts their lives in perspective. I highly recommend the group to any secondary school.

Absolute came to perform at our youth rally, on February 14, 2003, Valentines Day and what a sweet performance it was!

Students from our entire school division applauded every second of this action-packed presentation.

What did this include? Well maybe it would be good to start off with two things it wasn’t. It wasn’t preachy and it wasn’t boring. It was a jam-packed presentation with a powerful message. Students enjoyed that the band performed today’s popular music, the entertaining video clips, the break dancing, and the crowd involvement, particularly mullet mania! But they still remember Sat Man’s facts and the messages behind the stirring life stories of the very ordinary looking teens that stood before them.

On Thursday, February 27th, 2003, the group ‘Absolute’ presented a dynamic one-hour multimedia presentation, which focused on making positive choices for the future. RE: ABSOLUTE PRESENTATION

A few months ago I receive a telephone call from a fellow calling himself Vaden Earle in Toronto, Ontario. He talked to me about a big screen, band and break dance presentation focusing on “choices” that teenagers have to make.

I talked to our SRG students and a date was set. The presentation was one hour long with approximately one hour for set-up and thirty minutes to take down. The presentation with individual speakers, well chosen songs and video presentations and unbelievable break dance moves by a member of his group had our Melville Comprehensive students’ attention.

The presentation was loud but very effective. The students responded well to Vaden’s message.

As former Education Coordinator for Teen Challenge Farm, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center and presently working with the homeless, I am very much aware of the desperate situation of our youth. Each year hundreds of our youth find themselves on the streets or in some area shelter because of family breakdown, which in turn leads to possible drug or alcohol use or other deadly addictions. This has lead to a high percentage of high school dropouts. The government spends billions of dollars a year to give a band-aid solution to the ongoing war against drugs and youth on the streets. Is there an answer? I believe one of the answers is found in a positive message that brings hope to a generation without hope. The “Absolute Team” under the leadership of Vaden and Christal Earl is an outstanding approach in helping shape the will of our generation of youth without breaking their spirit. I would highly recommend the “Absolute Team” to be apart of any future assembly your high school has to offer.

I am pleased to be writing this letter of recommendation for Absolute Mission. Their presentation at our school on May 9th, 2002 was outstanding. It provided a positive message on a number of societal issues affecting today’s adolescents in an informative and entertaining manner. Students did not feel they were engaged in a lecture type, top down approach, but rather in an inclusive and heartfelt framework.

During the presentation, there were moments of laughter, cheering, serenity and seriousness. Members of the group were multi-talented and very people oriented.

Overall, the one-hour session was extremely worthwhile. I would certainly consider having Absolute Mission return to our school in the future. I would encourage any educational institution to foster the same thought.

This morning our high school aged students were engaged in a values - oriented presentation that continually kept the attention of the audience. The presentation that continually kept the attention of the audience. The presentation had heartfelt stories, health statistics, and focus on future choices and values. It was quick moving, musically oriented, and meaningful. Our students related well to the story on bullying. I highly recommend this presentation to any high school wishing to send a message that you can change direction in your life, and all is not hopeless.

Many students have commented that this is the best assembly we have had at the school. I agree. This presentation covers areas in the Teacher Adviser Program. A follow-up session in TAP right after the presentation could reinforce the positive message presented. I look forward to future endeavors from this talented, professional group.

On May 10th, 2002, the Group called ‘Absolute’ provided a program, an hour in length, for the entire school population (650) in our gymnasium.

Students and staff alike were impressed with both the delivery and the message. Making good choices in spite of roadblocks was the basic theme. A fast pace with singing, dancing, lights and personal life stories kept the students attention. We would certainly welcome the group back another year.

Our school recently hosted “Absolute” for a full school assembly and for our feeder elementary school Grade 7 and 8 classes. Both the students and staff were impressed with the message of making good choices that this committed group of young people were giving. We had the pleasure of treating our grade 9-12 student body to a multi-media presentation by Absolute on Tuesday, April 9th, 2002. The Absolute presentation under the guidance of Vaden Earle was very well received by our grades nine to twelve at Milden Central School. I am writing this letter on behalf of our Youth Council (The Regional Multicultural Youth Council) to thank you and the Mission Absolute team for visiting the Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School in Thunder Bay last week. We are pleased to have sponsored the event, which exceeded all expectations. You connected well with students at the school and feedback has been very positive.

During our fall orientation program to welcome students from remote First Nations communities to urban centers, we conducted a survey on issues of concern to Aboriginal Youth. Alcohol, drugs, violence, racism, youth street gangs loneliness, depression and school problems were at the top of the list. The message on self-esteem, motivation and making positive choices was timely. It is the empowerment youths need for self-confidence and to be part of the solution to deal with problems.

The lively and up-beat interactive strategy was very effective in communicating with native students who are generally shy and very reserved. The personal experiences shared by your skills and talented team resonated well with the audience and captured their attention through the presentation. We were impressed with the response generated, and level of participation from a large student body in the gym. The visit is having an impact. Students are already signing up to be involved in our Youth Council and we will be helping them to plan and organize activities that can make a difference.

Once again, thank you for coming to share a message of hope and encouragement with the youth. We would love to have you visit our community again, and if we can secure funding, we would like you to tour the small isolated communities across this vast region we serve so that more youths can have a chance to learn from practical experiences and develop life skills to enhance their well being.
